Community of Practice North Sea

On Tuesday, June 4, Offshore Proof will be officially introduced during a round table session at the CoP North Sea gathering in Vlissingen, hosted by RVO and the Delta Climate Center.

The event, themed “Food from the Sea and Deltas”, brings together innovators, researchers, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to explore transitions in food, energy, and nature. It takes place from 12:00 to 19:00 at Hotel Fletcher Arion, right on the Zeeland coast, and includes morning site visits to leading aquaculture and tidal energy projects.

What is Offshore Proof?
Offshore Proof is a four-year European collaboration between 7 partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Germany. The project aims to support the development and deployment of innovative offshore renewable energy technologies by offering access to real-life offshore test facilities. Technologies that can be tested include tidal, wave, offshore solar, and energy storage solutions.

The challenge Offshore Proof addresses is clear: many promising offshore innovations never reach the market due to lack of opportunities to demonstrate their performance in real offshore conditions. Offshore Proof offers a solution by unlocking access to accredited test sites and guiding innovators through key hurdles, including performance verification and acceptance under international standards such as IECRE.

Round Table Session: Discover & Engage
During our 45-minute session at the CoP event, we’ll disclose Offshore Proof to the public for the very first time. The session will include:

  • Introduction to Offshore Proof & Test Facilities (5 min)
A brief overview of the offshore test locations available in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Germany.

  • Discussion with Technology Developers (15 min)
Insights into the experiences, challenges, and opportunities of testing in offshore environments.

  • Interactive Round Table (20 min)
A joint exercise to identify promising technologies and test needs.

  • Next Steps (5 min)
How CoP participants can contribute to and benefit from Offshore Proof.

We warmly invite technology developers, policymakers, researchers, and investors to join this session and help shape the future of offshore innovation in Northwest Europe.
