Last week, the Offshore Proof consortium gathered in Bremen and on Helgoland for three productive and engaging days during the project's third partnership meeting, hosted by Fraunhofer IFAM.
Offshore Proof brings together offshore test sites, research organisations,
and industry partners from across Northwest Europe to improve access to
testing, validation, and certification services for offshore renewable energy
technologies. By strengthening cooperation between testing facilities and
sharing expertise, the project aims to support the testing of innovative offshore technologies under the real sea conditions.
Exploring offshore testing at Helgoland
A key part of the meeting was a visit to the Helgoland test site. Located in
the North Sea, the site provides a real-world environment for testing offshore
renewable energy technologies and collecting operational data. Current
activities focus on areas including acoustics, structural loads, biofouling,
and coatings, which helps to generate information needed to assess technology
performance and support future certification processes.

During the trip partners discussed certification needs of technology developers, investors, insurers, and regulators, as well as opportunities for closer collaboration between offshore test sites.

Sharing Knowledge and strengthening collaboration
As part of the three-day meeting, partners reviewed progress across the project
and discussed ongoing activities. The consortuim had the opportunity to share knowledge, align activities, and identify
areas where collaboration can add value. This helped ensure that project activities remain connected and
relevant to the needs of the offshore renewable energy sector.

A sincere thank you to our hosts, Hanno Schnars and Tim Heusinger from Fraunhofer IFAM, for
organising the meeting and welcoming the consortium to Bremen and Helgoland. Many thanks to all project partners for their continued
contributions, engagement, and work towards achieving the objectives of
Offshore Proof.
Stay connected
As the project progresses, partners will continue working together to improve offshore testing, validation, and certification services across Northwest Europe.
