Connecting marine energy end-users with certification expertise

As marine energy technologies move from demonstration towards commercial deployment, certification is becoming an increasingly important part of project development. Yet for many project developers, investors and other end-users, the IECRE certification system can still be difficult to navigate.

As part of Offshore Proof, an informal IECRE End-User Group for Marine Energy is proposed to help bridge this gap. The group would bring together marine energy end-users, project developers, certification bodies (RECBs), test laboratories (RETLs) and other industry stakeholders to exchange practical knowledge and experience around IECRE certification.

Why an IECRE End-User Group?

The group would provide a practical space for end-users to better understand how certification can support technology development and project delivery, while also creating a direct dialogue with organisations involved in testing and certification.             The group aims to:

  • Build understanding of the IECRE certification system and available certification pathways.
  • Share practical experience on certification processes, benefits and limitations.
  • Connect end-users with certification bodies and test laboratories, creating opportunities for early dialogue.
  • Showcase real-world experiences of technologies progressing through testing and certification.
  • Encourage early consideration of certification when planning technology demonstrations and commercial projects.

Through in person and online sessions, case studies, a dedicated webpage, Q&As and sector events, the group will provide a practical space to ask questions, exchange experiences and make certification easier to navigate.

Offshore Proof is exploring interest in this initiative and welcomes input from organisations interested in contributing to the group.
