Building trust through testing

Curious about how offshore innovation gets from idea to reality? It starts with testing, trust —and a strong team.

That’s why we kicked off the Offshore Proof project with a two-day partner meeting at Campus@Sea in The Hague last week. It was our first chance to all meet in person, break down complex work packages, and make sure we’re all on the same page.
The goal? To build a network of accredited test centres that help innovative offshore energy technologies earn trust, recognition in real-world results.

Learning, playing, planning

The agenda was packed, but interactive. We played the “Certification Game” to learn about IECRE steps and testing protocols. We explored how to select the right technologies for testing and how our test sites can deliver high-value performance assessment reports for developers. We also tackled the tricky topic of Social Cost-Benefit Analysis, brainstorming how to make those results meaningful for policymakers. POM hosted a creative session to imagine the ideal offshore energy future in each partner country—and then backcasted to the actions we’d need to take today. Deftiq led a workshop on training needs at each test centre and how online courses could help build capacity across Europe. And of course, we covered reporting, deliverables, and communication—the backbone of any Interreg project.

The proof is in the pudding

We left the meeting feeling energized and aligned, with a clear sense of where we’re headed next. It wasn’t just a formal gathering—it felt like the start of a shared effort to move things forward. At Offshore Proof, we believe testing should support innovators, not stand in their way. Curious about how that looks in practice?

Follow us, test with us, and be part of the proof.
